But, the good news is that most people can improve their negotiation skills through education, preparation, and practice.

Our guest in the webinar is Morgan Barlet. He started his career in France. Then at the age of 25, he moved to Rotterdam. There he started an internship at HousingAnywhere.com. Today he’s the Head of Sales at HousingAnywhere.com. It’s the World’s largest platform for short-to-mid-term accommodation.

Watch this webinar and learn what are the key negotiation principles. Further, find some practical tips to become a good negotiator. Also, learn about some mistakes when negotiating and how to avoid them.

Key takeaways from the webinar: Negotiation skills for BD Pros

There are a lot of misconceptions about negotiation. The biggest one is the definition of negotiation itself. Many people see it as a confrontation or a fight. But, negotiation is all about finding the optimal agreement for all parties involved. It’s about creating extra value together.

There are several steps in the negotiation process. A needs analysis is the first one. Once you understand what is important to the other party, then you can focus on creating extra value for them. Then, when you have an idea of how to create extra value for the other party, the next step is to position that value. You need to get the other party to understand and believe in this extra value that you’re bringing. Finally, the last step is to follow up and close the negotiation.

When negotiating, both process and mindset are important. However, you will get good results with either one of them. For example, even if you’re not self-confident, if you stick to the process you will get better results. In the same way, if you have the right mindset, but you don’t follow the process, it can work as well.

More takeaways:

  • How to prepare for a negotiation
  • Practical examples for creating extra value
  • Tips for a proper needs analysis
  • Common mistakes in negotiations
